Julie was referred to MPT through the financial inclusion team as she was struggling to get by living off her late husband’s pension. She was suffering with severe anxiety and depression due to the loss of her husband 2 years ago and her dad more recently. She wasn’t in a good place with regards to her wellbeing and was feeling quite lost and emotionless.
Julie was really struggling to make ends meet with having so little to rely on each month which in return contributed to her stress and depression. She wanted to get back into employment but didn’t know where to start to make this happen and needed some support.
We established that Julie needed help with confidence, motivation and social isolation. She had been out of work for a while so was worried that the gaps in employment would be an issue. She was also suffering with her mental health. We devised an action plan and prioritised Julie’s needs according to her barriers. We met regularly to encourage and provide support, helped with applying for work to take some stress from Julie, devised mock interviews for her confidence towards employment and referred her to an Active gym/weight management program for her motivation, physical & mental health and social integration.
After being supported by MPT Julie received employment at Stokers as a customer service advisor. She felt much more confident within herself after completing the gym program and weight management program resulting in her losing half a stone. She now regularly attends the gym and has broadened her social network in doing so. She is now able to cope financially and enjoy her life again
